Dear Parents and Caregivers
Staffing news
for 2015 – Brent Ballantyne has accepted a position at St Marys School
from the beginning of 2015. There will be a big gap here at the start of 2015,
but we all wish Brent the very best in his next adventure.
This term Mr
O’Connell will be away for school for at least the next four weeks. We wish
him a speedy recovery. We are thrilled that Barbara Whitburn is able
to teach Room 10 until Mr O’Connell
is able to return to work.

Pet Day prize giving will be at about 12 o’clock then children are able to go
home. School is open in the afternoon and we will have staff to supervise them,
but teachers are reviewing 2014 and planning for 2015 so classes will not run
as usual. IF YOUR CHILD WILL BE AT SCHOOL ON FRIDAY AFTRENOON please phone the
office so we can add them to our list. Anyone not at school must be supervised
by an adult for the afternoon. If you are not able to arrange adult supervision
your child (of any age) s/he is expected to be at school.
Bring your Teddy Bear to Room 12 on Friday morning before school to enter it into the ‘Carterton School Pet Day Teddy Bear
Competition’. There are several certificates to be awarded! (Best
dressed, biggest, smallest, prettiest, oldest, etc). Teddy Bears can be collected from Room 12 once
pet day is finished. Please attach your name and room number to your
Teddy Bear before bringing it to Room 12. Thank you!

Wanted for Pet Day flowers for the
students to use for the ‘Flower Plate Decoration Competition’. Any amount, size, colour, type will be most
appreciated. Please send the flowers to Room 12 on Friday morning or
before. Thank you!

The
HPS ‘Enviro Control’ team are
recording how much paper and cardboard our school recycles each week, on the
Paper 4 Trees website. Every bit of paper and cardboard we recycle earns
trees, shrubs and bushes for our school to plant. So this year we have
recycled 15840 litres of paper and cardboard and have earned 7.92 trees.
This means our school has saved: 1.98 tonnes
of paper and cardboard from the landfill, 15.84 cubic metres of landfill space
and 10.9296 tonnes of carbon emissions reduced from the landfill. Well
done and keep up the great recycling! HPS Enviro Control Team.
